The Sweet Corner of the World

If there is any part of the created world that can provide a home, a nest, a shelter for human culture that is built to last, it is the Carpathian Basin. There is no other place on earth where natural boundaries offer such secure protection to its inhabitants. There is no other place where the conditions necessary for life to flourish are so rich and balanced, and where everything that is not only sufficient to sustain life but also to serve as the cradle of a human culture that transcends time is so united. It is no coincidence, therefore, that it has been compared in its natural form to the human skull, and that we then find the cradle of spiritual culture in the development of thousands of years. But the Carpathian Basin also evokes the bosom of mother, which means that it is the only habitat in the world where the potential for life to unfold is given the chance to settle permanently. There are many concrete justifications for these definitions, all of which demonstrate that the Carpathian Basin, with its extraordinary natural wonders, is a unique and unified phenomenon in the world:

  • The Carpathian Mountains, with their 1500 kilometres of mountain range, provide a specific large- scale protection. Within this, the Transylvanian Basin is a miniature version of the Great Basin, where the Csík, Gyergyó and Háromszék Basins form the most protected natural unit.
  • It is the cradle of unique climatic, hydrographic and ecological conditions for all life requiring protection
  • The four seasons of the year have the most favourable climatic conditions in the entire area, which are particularly favourable to the development of life.
  • From the point of view of crops, the most favourable conditions exist, ranging from large forests to agricultural production.
  • It is extremely rich in mineral resources. It is rich in precious metals and one of the richest subsoils in salt.
  • Its water network permeates the entire Carpathian Basin. Its water resources have historically made the Carpathians-homeland the richest country in the world.
  • It is equally rich in medicinal waters and thermal waters
  • Its central area forms the thinnest layer of land and as such – the warmest. This explains why after the ice age, life first developed here in the highlands due to the natural conditions mentioned above.
  • The Carpathian Basin is the most perfect geometrical centre in Europe, and is therefore well suited to it, for human culture to be organised around it.

The above-mentioned findings make it clear that the Carpathian Basin has always been the most important cradle of permanent settlement for all. Under such conditions, language, farming and culture can develop in the interchange of related nations. For thousands of years, only one people has been able to cultivate, maintain, nurture and occupy the Carpathian Basin. The characteristic of this people is that it draws from the most direct source the power it needs to maintain the Creator- given order. It makes no difference whether we call it a nation with archer qualities or a nation of horsemen, for it has one meaning. It does not matter whether it appears on the stage of history as Scythian, Hun, Avar, Hungarian, because it has one form of communication in which it interprets the world. The Carpathian Basin is one and indivisible. It was not structured by empires and great

powers, but by the Creator himself. It follows that neither great powers nor satanic empires can tear it apart, for their power is finite and their time limited. And the Sweet Corner of the World remains the cradle of every culture of life.
